Defence Team Communications Products and Tools Survey: Information Sheet

You are invited to participate in this research project because you are a member of one of the following groups: Regular Force, Reserve Force, or DND public service.

The purpose of this study is to gather anonymous information about Defence Team members’ experiences using DND’s internal communication products and tools. Results will be used by Assistant Deputy Minister (Public Affairs) to improve and adjust communication products and resources.

Participation

The survey will take approximately 5 minutes to complete. Your participation is completely anonymous and voluntary. You may choose not to answer any question that you are not comfortable with or that you feel may compromise your identity. There will be no negative consequences as a result of survey participation or withdrawal.

SSRRB Approval Number

This research project has been coordinated by the DND/CAF Social Science Research Review Board (SSRRB) in accordance with DAOD 5062-0 and 5062-1. The SSRRB Coordination Clearance Certificate # is 2203/24N.

Risks

The risks associated with participating in this study are assessed as minimal (i.e., no more distress than everyday life). A list of referrals for your personal use will be provided, should you wish to seek support. 

Information You Provide

Information collected will be kept strictly confidential and will only be shared with members of the research team. The researchers will protect your anonymity in any reports or presentations, as only grouped information will be reported.

Future Uses of Data/Secondary Analysis

The anonymized data will be stored on a secure server controlled by National Defence and will be retained indefinitely. This data may be accessible by the study investigators as well as the broader scientific community and used in future research (i.e., to provide information on a specific issue of interest to the DND/CAF).

ATIP Considerations

The Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act entitle Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada, and individuals or corporations currently present in Canada to obtain copies of research reports and research information held in federal government files. Prior to releasing any information, the Director Access to Information and Privacy screens the information to ensure that the identities of individuals are not disclosed.

By consenting to participate in this study, you are agreeing that your data can be used beyond the purposes of the present study by either the current or other authorized personnel. In no way does this waive your legal rights nor release the researchers, sponsors, or involved institutions from their legal and professional obligations.
